Title of Presentation:
The Effects of Music Entrainment on the Perception of Pain
3.
Abstract
In
this presentation, the presenter will share the results of two research studies
on the effectiveness of music entrainment for the management of pain. The first research study investigated the efficacy of music
entrainment for postoperative pain in pediatric patients, whereas the second
research study examined the effectiveness of music entrainment for chronic pain
in adult patients. Music entrainment is an innovative music therapy approach to
the treatment of pain, utilizing the ability of music to achieve resonance with
and to match physiological and psychological phenomena. In music entrainment for
pain management, instrumental or vocal live music is created by the therapist to
match the client's pain. Once this resonance has been achieved, a gradual change
in the music will elicit corresponding changes in the client's physiological and
psychological responses, resulting in pain reduction and mood enhancement. This
presentation will include a discussion on the issues involved in effectively
measuring pain perception and an exploration of recent trends in study designs
related to pain perception research.

Coinvolgimento musicale e gestione del
dolore
